  She was an Alsatian, who had been Pitoëff's secretary
  in Switzerland. She went to Paris in the 1920's, (see map)
  where she opend a lending library for foreign books 
  in the Rue de Cherche-Midi, made translations and
  sold prints! She also got to know some artists and,
  on the advice of Jean Lurçat, in 1925 
  changed her library into a gallery for exhibiting the
  work of her friends. Her first show was of drawings,
  prints, and water-colours by Gromaire, Lurçat,
  Pascin (Julius Pincas), Marcoussis,
