Marshalling the Pods
The pods are set in motion from the very beginning
and are essential to the group work to be accomplished.
A set of cards (preferably 2x2 or 4x4 squares) one
with each name of the students are shuffled and
dealt into piles (face down) so that there will be
between 4 and 6 people in each pod.
This is done in front of the entire class so that there
is no objection (other than complaining) that can be made.
The FIRST card (when they the stack is turned rightside up)
of each pod deck is the MODERATOR. There is no way out of
this. Just as when it turns out that Ulyses S. Grant turned
out to be such a great geneal and ??name?? turned out to
be such a loser - the fortunes of war; and life in genral.
The pod moderator is handed the deck with their pod-mates
on it and a copy of the pod marshalling document.
-[The Pods Marshalling Document]-
And they are directed to gather their pod together - the pods
should be as far as possible from each other in the room so
as to lesson noise from one group to the next.

FAO: www.DownLoad.Com - really this needs to be re-classifed
and with warnings. Pretty nasty stuff and the user just
splashes out onto it. Technically excellent stuff, but "wowie
zowie" (as we Zappa-heds sey). -- Frank Leeding.
More of the same, nice tech feel, but what am i getting into
here? Or in the words of the late, great James Nesmeth
"Hate crimes have no place in the land of the free".

Being mostly pc-based.
CSYS: PC, MAC, Unix, etc
XP is sort of the system of choice these days - of course (vista i think?)
M/S will continually be up-grading stuff. Eventually MAC and PC will *almost*
be as good as Unix/Linux and other open systems - oh, well.
CSYS: CD-Rom / Flash/Jump Drives
CD Roms are *still* prevalent, and i can see the day when a flat-pack
memory chip (eg, a smart business card) will have like 1 Gig or more
on it, and we'll trade/give them out as casually as we do biz cards now.
Already jump-drives (the lower capacity; eg, 128-Meg) are being used
as give-aways with corporate demos, etc - much the same way that CD
Roms, Coffee Mugs, Key Chains are now at conventions.

The best source is the c|net download.com site:

How to get the stuff you want for free.
Much of the world is (believe it or not)
filled with geeks/nerds like me (and of course you ;)
So, we love nothing better than to show off our
tremendously large (ahem) talents.
As, such we always give back a little; usually refered
to as "open source", "public domain", etc. *** NOte to self: need to
clean up and release
internet flashcards pgm
1. Bring up a browser (i hear and obey, oh dark lord Gatez!)
so, pc examples. Eg, explorer (or netscape if you are
*like* that).
2. -[www.download.com]-
3. In the search window, enter the phrase
sound editing
4. Click SEARCH
5. When the screen comes up, scroll down past the ads (or
not - depends on things, i s'pose?).
6. In the line that shows the following, click and pull down
to match:
Filter by ALL OSs All Licenses All File Sizes All Categories
CHANGE: Free Windows
(or as your needs are of).
7. Click on FILTER (button to the far right).
You get a page or not, find, look, etc.
btw: it's *always* a good idea to register (just use your email addr)
and to *review* what you like. In MANY cases, you see comments
(like on the SUPERB kangas sound editor) "waste of time" - obviously
someone was looking for something *other* than a physics lab quality
techie tool!
