Teaching TECHNOLOGY per se

-[
Article by A. Lynch]- "Educational goals for a global future: teaching technology versus teaching with technology" Source: Technology in Society, Volume 20, Number 3, August 1998 , pp. 339-345(7) http://openurl.ingenta.com/content?genre=article&issn=0160-791X&volume=20&issue=3&spage=339&epage=345 $30 to purchase!!! and here i spent me last $8 + pocket change to buy stuff for a demo on "what is creativity" !!! and then i have to some times "find" some extra stuff for the students - esp the ones that can't afford the stuff -- and then i tell them to go to DOLLAR TREE for the fold-out for $1 and then i brings in all me stuff $30 flippin' dollars -- great Zarquon's mimeing giraffe where do they think that teachers are gonna get all that money????? !!! Abstract There is a strong drive to increase computer technology in the classroom. This drive is backed by desires to create equity of educational opportunity through the standardization of facilities, and to discover a “magic pill” to cure what ails an educational system that is less than GLOBALLY ** Emph: mine [1] COMPETITIVE. The technology solution argument has overshadowed the fact that liberal arts education, especially language and cultural education, are the key components enabling any students to participate SUCCESSFULLY in ** Emph mine [2] the global market. Multicultural communication skills and respect for diversity, as well as self awareness and critical thinking skills, are essential for technologically educated students to excel in an academic context. [1] Horrible phrase. [2] And if you believe that talk to the Zurich Project! 4th, 5th, and now 6th and 7th world cultures -- slouching toward Wall Street; begging on Main Street. -[]- -[]- -[]- -[]-
